Rani is a twelve-year-old girl who lives in Padang. She is a sixth-grade student in elementary school. Every day, she wakes up at six o’clock in the morning. After brushing her teeth and washing her face, she eats breakfast with her family. Her mother usually prepares rice, eggs, and milk. Rani likes drinking milk because it makes her strong.
At seven o’clock, Rani goes to school. She walks with her best friend, Sinta. On the way, they talk about their hobbies.
Sinta says, “My hobby is playing badminton.”
Rani answers, “My hobby is reading books. I read every night before I sleep.”
When they arrive at school, the teacher greets them. “Good morning, students!” says Mr. Budi.
“Good morning, Sir!” the students reply happily.
The first lesson is English. Rani likes English because she can learn new words. Today, the topic is about family members. Mr. Budi writes on the board: father, mother, brother, sister, uncle, aunt. Then he asks, “Who can make a sentence with these words?”
Rani raises her hand and says, “My father is a teacher. My mother is a doctor.”
The teacher smiles, “Excellent, Rani!”
After English, the students have a break. They eat snacks and drink water. Rani buys bread and juice from the canteen. She sits under a tree with her friends. They talk about animals.
“I have a cat at home,” says Rani.
“I have a dog,” says Sinta.
Another friend, Andi, says, “I have a bird. It sings every morning.”
Later, they study science. The topic is about nature: river, mountain, tree, and forest. The teacher shows a picture and asks, “Where is the tree?”
Rani answers, “The tree is in the forest.”
“Good job!” says the teacher.
At noon, the students go home. Rani arrives at her house at one o’clock. She eats lunch with her family. After that, she helps her mother wash the dishes. Then she studies in her room. She writes a short text about her daily activities:
“I wake up at six o’clock. I go to school at seven o’clock. I study English and science. I play with my friends. I read books at night.”
Her mother checks her writing and says, “Very good, Rani. Your sentences are clear.”
In the afternoon, Rani plays outside. She rides her bicycle with Sinta. They laugh and enjoy the fresh air. At five o’clock, she takes a bath. Then she helps her younger brother with his homework. She explains simple English words to him.
“This is a pencil. This is a book. The book is on the table.”
Her brother repeats after her, “This is a pencil. This is a book. The book is on the table.”
At night, the family gathers in the living room. They watch TV together. Sometimes, they listen to music. Rani likes listening to English songs because she can learn pronunciation. She tries to sing along. Her father says, “Listening is important. It helps you understand English better.”
Before sleeping, Rani reads a storybook. The story is about a girl who visits the zoo. She learns about elephants, lions, and monkeys. Rani enjoys the story and imagines visiting the zoo one day.
Finally, at nine o’clock, Rani goes to bed. She says, “Good night, Mom. Good night, Dad.”
Her parents reply, “Good night, Rani. Sweet dreams.”
Rani closes her eyes and thinks, “Today I learned many new words. I practiced speaking, reading, writing, and listening. English is fun!”
